About The Houseboat:

The houseboat in Kerala is locally known as kettuvallam, and this has become one of the most common means for the exploration of the backwaters. These are basically boats with thatched roofs that can give a unique experience. The houseboat has become common not only among the residents here, but at the same time, tourists from different corners of the world also hire these to enjoy the unique beauties of the backwaters.

The Extreme Popularity of the Houseboats:

The popularity of the Kerala houseboats has increased to such a tremendous extent that whenever the tourists visit Kerala, they make it a point not to miss out the opportunity to get a houseboat trip. Therefore, you must also not be an exception to this. There are large numbers of boats that operate in the backwaters, and due to the increasing environmental impact, there are some eco-friendly boats available, as well. Thus, you can select your boat and set off for the adventure.

Hiring the Houseboat:

Since the popularity of houseboat in Kerala has increased to a tremendous extent, it is not difficult to get these boats. However, the best place from where you can hire it is Alleppey. When you hire a boat here, you would be able to set off for the adventurous journey for backwaters right from here. These houseboats travel to many different places along the backwaters, and they move slowly.

Duration Of The Stay In The Boat:

The duration for which you want to hire and travel in the Kerala houseboats largely depends on you. You can hire it for a day, while on the other hand, if you love the feeling of this homely environment and comfort surrounded by water all around, you can hire it for more days, as well. There are both day trips and night trips available. The day trips generally last up to 6 pm while there are many people who go for overnight hire. Often, you can hire for two nights, as well, because a single night might not be sufficient enough for you to enjoy the uniqueness.

Hiring The Boats For Overnight Trip:

If you plan to hire the houseboats for overnight trips, you would experience a difference. You would enjoy a serene and calm sleep in probably a peaceful spot. On the next day, these boats would return by 9-10 am.

The Food And The Drinks:

You would have to spend a huge time in the houseboat, and therefore, while enjoying the backwaters, you would easily be able to relax and relish with the food and drinks inside the boat. You can expect to get Indian food that is freshly cooked along with chilled beer. This in turn, would make your experience further enjoyable.

Best Time For A Houseboat Trip:

It is natural that peak season is the best time when you can take a trip on the houseboat, expecting to enjoy at the fullest. The peak season usually starts from November to January, because at this time of the year, you would enjoy a cool and dry weather. However, you can experience the difference in the houseboats throughout the year. There are many people who love to travel in the houseboats during the monsoons, considering it to have a different appeal altogether. However, since the month of March to May is very hot, you should go for air conditioned houseboats to enjoy the trip.

The Charges Involved:

There are different price ranges involved in hiring of the Kerala houseboats. The prices that are charged from you will largely depend on the quality, as well as, the season when you are travelling. The minimum amount might vary from $80 to even $150 if you plan to go for a deluxe luxury trip. The time of the year is also considered to be an important factor on the basis of which the prices are involved. When you hire houseboats for two, the rate would obviously increase, especially in the case of air conditioned boats. There are family boats with multiple rooms also available, and for an overnight trip, you might have to pay as much as $285.

Thus, with the essential guide, you would definitely not have a problem in exploring the backwaters in the Kerala houseboats.

Bahai house of worship is an open religious idea. It accepts all faiths and believes in humanity. No rituals can be performed or practiced inside the premises of Lotus Temple.

27 free marble made petals have been arranged in a set of 3 each. The central hall is around 40 meters tall and has nine windows. At any point of time, this place can hold around 2500 people. Hence, the tourists do not have to cramp for space. It is an ideal tourist location some of the best people around. Many architects have taken up the Lotus temple for case study. Faroborz Sahba is the main brain behind this particular design. He is a Canadian architect who specializes in temple designs and high-rise architecture.

The surrounding pool of the Lotus temple is exceptionally beautiful. Just like any other architectural wonder, the Lotus temple looks marvelous at night. Hence, it is recommended that people should go for night outings at the Lotus Temple. Architectural society of China and the Encyclopedia Britannica has appreciated the efforts of the Indians in establishing such a structure. The Lotus Temple Delhi has attracted the inflow of foreign tourists to our country. Many people have converted the place into a place of worship. However, no religious ideas and rituals are welcome in this temple. It only recognizes people and their respect towards this place.

The Lotus temple is capable of competing with the top architectural wonders of the world. It has some unique titles against its name.

Haldighati is a place associated with numerous stories of chivalry on the part of the Rajputs. The Rasjputs and the Muslim rulers have fought bloody battles here making it one of the most important historical places. The place is located at a distance of 40 kilometers to the North of Udaipur. The Mughal Empire fought a pitched battle against the rulers of Mewar. The battle has been recorded as one of the bloodiest in the history of India. The battles were fought during the period of 1550-1575. Akbar had made many attempts to sign a peace accord with Maharana Pratap. He however did not want to go for a peace deal with Akbar. The ruler of the Rajputs felt that that Akbar had no moral right to rule over Delhi. Akbar was an invader and for the same reason he could not be considered son of the soil.

Rajasthan is a place that has a rich cultural heritage. The forts and palaces of Rajasthan have attracted both national as well as international tourists. The area of Haldighati region is a special place and an area of public interest. Planning a holiday in Rajasthan requires proper time selection. The summer time is not recommended, as it is a desert area. The best time to visit Haldighati is during the month of October to February. These months are relatively cold. Compared to the other months- it is more comfortable. Camping may also be a very good idea if you are carrying your own camping equipment. Personal modes of transport are welcome but one can easily hire jeeps and SUVs for a trip around the place. It is hill with narrow ridges between the small hills. The type of soil found in this region is yellowish in color. It is due to the presence of sand in the layers of soil of that particular region.

The best way to explore this place is a walk along the ridges. The ridges are quite narrow. The hills are not very high and can be easily scaled. The narrow ridge passing between the main two hills of Haldoghati was the spot of confrontation between the Moguls and Rajputs. Later on, this place became a place of utmost tourist attraction. People still want to view the place that has so many legends in its name.

Haldighati is easily accessible by road. Udaipur is one of the biggest towns and tourist spots of Rajasthan. They have the most important aspects of communication with the rest of India. From Jaipur, one can easily reach Udaipur via train or buses.

Udaipur excursions would be the ideal term to describe a trip to Haldighati. It is a place with an unique museum too. The museum is worth paying a visit too. If you are not too adventurous, then trips to museums can be a good option. A jeep drive is a very exciting prospect for travelers since it helps them to navigate the place properly. A memorial has been placed at the battle zone of the Haldighati. It is based on the legend of Chetak, the faithful horse of Maharana Pratap. The horse was by his master’s side till his last breath. It has also turned into a special place since many have started considering it as a sacred place.

The city palace museum should not be missed by any traveler during a trip to Haldighati. Haldighati is incomplete without the museum. The museum holds ancient artifacts belonging to the era of the Moguls. The legend of Maharana Pratap is incomplete without the visit to the city palace museum. The city palace museum also holds several things that would make it easy to scale the history of that place. Lake Pichola is another wonderful place that is quite close to the region of Haldighati.

A visit to the Pichola Lake in the evening would be an excellent experience for most of the travelers. Some wonderful events are organized at this venue. It becomes an apt place for all travelers after they have completed their trip to Haldighati. Haldighati trips are incomplete without their travel to a place like Pichola Lake. It has mesmerized and charmed many travelers in the past. The Haldighati is just a speck of dust in an unique landscape called India.

Foreigners get special delight in visiting this place since the collection of artifacts in this part of the world is simply amazing. The cultural base of Arunachal Pradesh has been properly brought forward through this particular museum.

Tale Wildlife Sanctuary is a hot spot for tourists that just take around 30 minutes from Zero hill station. It is an amazing escapade where people can enjoy nature to its fullest. There is no dearth of ways to reach Zero Hill station.

Accommodation should not be a matter of concern and there are plenty of accommodations available at fair rates. There are mainly two types of accommodation available in Zero Hill Station. The cheap ones are very basic type of accommodation with some basic amenities. Good food is also available at some places especially in the town of Zero. Some small hotels and resorts are present in the hill station town of Zero. They have all the modern facilities that would be desired by a tourist. The overall level of facilities present in this particular place is worth giving a try. The tourism department has taken special care to make sure that the best possible facilities are given to the tourists. It is important to make sure that one carries some of the necessities. Trekkers must carry all their equipment to make sure that they do not face any shortages while trekking in the hilly regions of Zero.

Once upon a time, this place was regarded as the center of Hyderabad. Today it is one of the most magnificent structures of modern India. It also reminds us of the unique architectural styles that we have developed over the years. The Nizams of Hyderabad were known for their pomp and splendor. They had a unique way of treating their guests with the most lavish food and accommodation possible. Today the guests, who have the rare pleasure of visiting the Chowmahalla Palace Hyderabad, would definitely remember this place for the rest of their lives. Today, very few people get the permission to host social gathering or corporate events. The only reason is the expense and the rarity of this structure. A variety of architectural influences has converged into the making of this amazing palatial structure. Once the Nizams resided here with great command and used the building for ceremonies like weddings and parties. Barkat Ali Khan Mukkarram Jah is the present head of the Nizams of Hyderabad. He took the initiative to restore this amazing structure and open it for the tourists. The restoration work took a total of 5 years to complete. During this period, many changes were brought about into the main structure of the building. The final exponent was better than the previous one. It was indeed a noble idea to open the palace to the tourists of Hyderabad.

The surroundings of the palace are equally splendid with lush green exteriors with sprawling fountains. The fountains have been made more beautiful with the splendid lightings that are exhibited during the evening. The palace is open from 10 am to 5pm. However an entry fees has to be paid before entering the particular place. It is 25 INR for Indians and it is 100INR for any foreign national. This distinction has been made in order to make sure that the tourism industry manages to generate more revenue from the national heritage structures. It is a very important structure in India and one of the latest Indian palaces. Most of the Indian palaces are more than 300 years old.

The palace has two main courtyards and one main hall. The main hall is also known as the Durbar where the Nizams held their royal meetings. Chandeliers from Belgium loom over the main courtyard. They combine to create majestic lights that would charm and enthrall an observer completely. The chandeliers itself have been able to attract a large number of people and undoubtedly a chandelier is a royal symbol. Other memorabilia are also displayed on the massive walls of the main hall. They are mostly deeds and war weapons which have been used in the past. The southern part of the courtyard has four different palaces, each with its own majestic style and splendor. They have been built using a particular architectural style that is known as the Neo-Classical style of architecture.

The northern courtyard is also equally significant since it used to be the main administrative block of the diwans. The Nizams made their internal decisions in those particular regions of the Chowmahalla Palace. These blocks do not exhibit extremely pomp and beauty since this particular pace used to be used for pure decision-making. Hence, it is more classical in style and looks.

Another important building of this palace is the Roshan Bangla. It has a very famous clock above the hall of this building. The clock has been ticking away for a long time and has never failed to display the time accurately. The watch is repaired by expert watch mechanics that make sure that it is fighting fit. The chowkis led the guests to the most magnificent dining experiences one could ever have. It was during the period of the nizams that the palace served wonderful food to the guests. The slowly cooked biryani was the main attraction along with a wide variety of curries and vegetable preparations.
At present, this palace is being rented out for corporate events and the managerial duties are still performed by the palace authorities. Hence hosting a party or a social event becomes much easier. Using the hall may be a slightly expensive affair-it is a hall that surpasses any ratings. The common people are lucky enough to get access to this wonderful palace of the Nizams. Chowmahalla palace is a creation that is above excellence and surpasses any ratings. It is an art in itself. The architecture is a mixture of neo and ancient schools of architecture. The color is also soothing with its pitch white exteriors. The surrounding areas of the palace have been made equally wonderful by the presence of a large number of fountains and gardens. They have been arranged perfectly to make the scenery an exquisite one. The night is the best time to get an outer glimpse of the palace.

The Elephanta Caves are considered as national heritage of India. They have been a source of major attraction for tourists. Many tourists from round the world come and visit the caves each year, only to get a glimpse of these majestic structures. The Gateway of India is in close vicinity to the Elephanta Caves. One can easily take a ferry ride from the gateway of India to reach the Elephanta caves. The caves are located in a small island off the Arabian Sea. There are seven caves in all, which are located in the small island. The first 5 small caves are all Hindu caves and the remaining 2 are Buddhist caves. The caves contain various rocks that have been cut accordingly. The rocks have been cut to represent the Shiva sect of Hindu culture. The followers of Shiva are an ancient sect of the Hindus who only worshipped the mighty Shiva. Radio carbon dating has determined that the age of these caves goes back to the 5th century. They were also colored but today only traces of the colors remain today, they have faded heavily with time. For centuries, this place had been neglected thoroughly and in the year, 1970 things began to change.

The renovation work was completed and the place was made open to tourists. In the year 1987, UNESCO declared this ancient structure as a world heritage site. This marked a significant change in the fate of the Elephanta Caves. The number of tourists also increased and this unique structure started getting more and more foreign exposure. There is a lot to the Elephanta caves than the stone sculptures. They also depict the life and times of the period during which they were made. The mythological aspects of Lord Shiva have been depicted through the various artworks of the caves. The various faces of Shiva have been created with utmost perfection. After centuries of wear and tear, they have been able to hold their original splendor. However, the original color has been lost though some traces of it are still visible. Historians have been able to gather useful information about the mythological accounts. It becomes easier for them to frame it into a proper theme in front of the readers.

The name Elephanta was given by the Portuguese invaders who managed to reach the shores of the Arabian Sea. It was during the 16th century. The Portuguese invaders noticed a massive elephant statue in front of the gates of the caves. The statute was later removed and now it is there in one of the museums of Bombay. The structure was damaged but was restored later under the supervision of the British. It is very difficult to determine the exact makers of these cave structures. Some people believe that the ancient caves are not manufactured. However, archeologists believe that the caves were built during the period of the Mahabharata. A great Indian epic described the political structure and way of life of the people of India.

Hence, the total number of caves may go up to 30. They are largely seen depicting the live of Lord Shiva along with other incidents like that of Ravana. Many nature photographers and magazine coverage teams visit the caves to capture majestic images of Lord Shiva. Indian tourism authorities have regulated the flow of visitors and have preserved the structure. Hence coming to this place is quite easy. From the Gateway of India, a boat starts for the caves. It is available every 30 minutes and it is managed by the tourism department. The best season is the month of February and March since the climate is quite friendly during that time. The service is completely closed during the monsoon months since those areas receive very heavy rainfall. Those stretches become difficult to scale during that period. A number of unfinished caves have also been found in the Elephanta Island.

The caves lie in an island where you will not find any accommodation. The gateway of India is just a few kilometers away and it is the heart of Bombay. Hence, there is no dearth of quality accommodation. In Mumbai, you can get the widest variety of accommodation starting from the very basic to the seven stars rated. Food is available in plenty and you would be able to enjoy all types of cuisines here. The tourism also organizes many cultural programs in the caves. They are generally held during the months of February and March. They are great entertainers and many foreign tourists come here from time to time. The month of February is the month of fun and festivity.

Tamil Nadu is a place where there is a significantly high Christian population. The spread of Christianity also started from these areas and therefore the number of churches in Tamil Nadu is quite high. Chennai is a place where one can find a number of churches like the St John’s Church in Trichy. It was established in the year 1811-become an integral part of Tamil Nadu. Vadugarpet church is located in the vadugarpet village of Tamil Nadu. Dedicated to the woman of good health, this place has attracted people from all faiths. This is one important feature of this particular place. The construction of this church began as early as 1674.

St Xavier’s Church near Trichy is a standing example of the harmony that existed between Hindus and the Christians in the state of Tamil Nadu. It is one of the most famous and oldest churches in Tamil Nadu and has a huge cultural significance. The St Paul’s Church is another such example of Hindu-Christian harmony in southern India. Madurai district of Tamil Nadu is of extreme historical significance since this place was captured from the British in the year 1773. Some of the best churches of South India are seen in the Madurai District. Hence, it is a very important place. The St Georges Church is a World Famous structure. The first portions of it were built in the year 1800. In 1822, the Europeans of Madurai and Anglicians wanted a bigger and better church, so they laid the foundation of this church in the year 1875 after a series of formalities. In terms of its size, it is bigger than many churches in south India. The architecture is also quite alluring and the last structural addition was made in the year 1994 with the construction of a Community Hall.

Coimbatore is another important place of interest in Tamil Nadu- Zion Assembly of God Church being one of them. It is a famous organization in South India in terms of religious activities. Immanuel church is also quite significant since there are a number of followers of this particular church. Blesson M Joy is a church service conducted in the city of Madurai and is quite popular among the churches of Madurai. Gothic architectural effects are sometimes visible in these churches but they are predominantly influenced by European architecture. They are important places of worship and they attract a large number of tourists too.

Churches in Tamil Nadu are known for their excellent architectural beauty. Their designs project a mixture of various cultures. The St Thomas church came into existence after the saint visited Chennai in 78 AD. He was killed some time later but a church was built in his memorial. Thereafter a number of Europeans cam e down to the state of Tamil Nadu. This resulted in the spread of Christianity and a large number of churches were built thereafter. The St Thomas church officially came into existence in the year 1606 when the mortal remains of the saint were transferred to the new structure. Later on, the same structure was modified in the form of a Basilica. This was done in the year 1896 and today one can witness as many as 14 wooden plaques highlighting the life of Jesus. A very rare statue of Mother Mary is also present in the same basilica. The statue is of Portuguese origin and was brought to India in the year 1543.

The St Mary’s church of Chennai is one of the most ancient of all Anglican Churches. It has been estimated that the church was built – around 1680; this church is a world famous structure. It also famous since the marriage of Lord Clive and his fiancée were solemnized in the same place. From there on, the church has become a famous tourist destination and many people have a curiosity about this place.

CSI Holy Cross church is another place of interest for many tourists. 120 years old-this church was built by the Anglo Indian Community. It is a predominantly Anglo Indian church of Tamil Nadu. In the year 1815, another imposing structure was built in Chennai known as the St George’s Cathedral. This place is famous for the fine interiors and inner beauty of the church premises. The guardrails of this particular church are made of various war emblems like bayonets, swords, knives and others.

The churches of Tamil Nadu have both structural as well as spiritual significance. They are significant pillars in the history of India since we can trace the spread of Chrisitanity through it. The Portuguese travelers were the first to spread the message of Christianity in Southern India. Later the British also constructed many churches during their rule. A large number were constructed in South India too.

Overview

Ranakpur is a small village located in Western India in the state of Rajasthan. The village lies between Jaisalmer and Jodhpur, on the western Aravalli mountain range. From road, this place is easily accessible from Udaipur. A sun temple and a Jain temple make this place very popular. People travelling to Rajasthan generally prefer to go the Ranakpur village to get a glimpse of the culture of village India. In the past, this place has been ruled by Rana Kumbha of Mewar. This goes back to the mid 16th century. At that time, most of the temples and castles of Rajasthan were constructed. Sun Temple, Ranakpur is a very famous place and is iconic in Indian History. The architecture of the Sun temple here has been a subject of deep analysis. The structure is quite massive covering a total surface area of 60 x 62 meters. The majestic structures arise from the sides of a hill. This has become a major attraction for most of the tourists who come to visit Rajasthan; the region of Ranakpur cannot be ignored.
